For several years the Avon Wildlife Trust have been attending our market and have also had a stand at the annual Dog Show.
Their headquarters are in Bristol and they can often be found at the Tobacco Factory, Bath Artisan Market and Harbourside Market offering Information, Education & Memberships. The AWT love our market for its friendly local community, which has a good demographic that is interested to find out more about the work of the Trust. Our resident cake seller Melanie, has been attending the Village Market for five years. Her baking skills are outstanding and the cakes are simply delicious.😋
Mel loves the friendly community and people of LA and the repeat business for her cakes. She also offers bespoke orders. Cakes will always need to be packaged for people to carry them away, so Mel uses compostable packaging and suggests that customers could use their own Tupperware containers or boxes to transport them too. Mel’s cake displays tend to get the most thumbs up on our Facebook page, well done Mel! Claire Barnard from Missycards lives in Long Ashton and is one of our fabulous traders that joined us ten years ago! She loves the sense of community and friendliness of the market. Claire sells stunning hand embellished greetings cards and small gifts which she cleverly designs herself. Missycards can also be found for sell at the LA Post Office, Village Gift Shop, Clifton, Hazel Holly Florist, Downed, Eclectic on Hanham High Street or from www.missycards.etsy.com Claire is looking to start selling party invites along with notecard and thank you card packs. In helping to reduce carbon footprint, Claire uses recycled envelopes and has started to switch to biodegradable, compostable cello bags. Cards for markets need to be wrapped for protection and storage, so responsible materials are used where possible including naked cards - with no bags.
